So, who is Ben Milleare?
In short, I’m a 27 year old SEO Engineer and Senior Web Developer currently living and working in Essex, UK. I’ve been in the Internet industry for over 10 years now professionally, and a lot longer recreationally. I have always been involved in SEO, having first worked for my current employer many years ago when the company first formed, from 1999-2003 and now coming full circle and rejoining the company in 2008. I generally code web applications using CakePHP, having fallen in love with the framework in 2005 while it was still pre-1.0. I have worked as a Head of Engineering, a Lead PHP Developer for the worlds largest publisher of fine books in Central London, and also as a freelance ‘jack of all trades’ web developer on Alexa top100 sites.
While I miss some aspects of working in the hustle of bustle of a major city, my life is a lot more meaningful now that my wife and I have a son, George, who was born on March 21 2009. Working close to my home allows me to see him in the mornings as well as in the evenings and be a proper Dad, which is the best thing in the world.
I recently lost my wonderful sister, Leala, to cervical cancer which she fought bravely from 2007 until she sadly passed away in June of 2009. The things she went through have made me rethink my whole outlook on life, and start to live for today. You just never know whats around the corner. Leala was only 29 years old and leaves a gaping void in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
